Yuma Mourns Abraham Corral After Deadly Motorcycle Crash

Yuma, Arizona — The Yuma community is reeling after hearing the heartbreaking news that 34-year-old Abraham Corral died following a motorcycle crash late Saturday night, January 24. What should have been an ordinary ride turned into tragedy at the intersection of West County 14th Street and South Avenue B.

Deputies from the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office were called to the scene at about 9:24 p.m. Saturday after a report came in of a vehicle hitting a motorcycle. Officials say Corral was riding a 2014 Harley-Davidson Softail Deluxe northbound on Avenue B when it struck the rear of a 2014 Honda CR-V ahead of him. The force of the impact threw Corral onto the pavement, leaving him critically hurt.

Emergency crews with Rural Metro Fire rushed to the roadside and quickly transported both drivers to Onvida Health for treatment. The driver of the Honda suffered only minor injuries and was treated and released. Corral, however, was in critical condition from the moment he was lifted from the pavement.

Despite the best efforts of medical staff and emergency personnel, Corral succumbed to his injuries not long after arriving at the hospital. Family members were notified that night and have since been surrounded by friends and neighbors offering support and prayers.

Corral was more than a name on a police report. To those who knew him, he was a son and a friend known for his warm smile and his devotion to family. The loss has cast a heavy shadow over the community, where friends and loved ones continue to share stories of a man who cared deeply for those around him.

Investigators say speed may have been a factor in the collision, though the exact cause remains under review as part of the ongoing inquiry. The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office is asking anyone with information to come forward to help fill in the details of what happened that night.

Anyone who might have seen the crash or has video or other information is urged to contact the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office at 928-783-4427 or call 78-CRIME to remain anonymous. Tips can also be submitted through the department’s website.

As the community keeps Corral’s family in their hearts, neighbors and friends are holding onto memories of a life cut far too short — a reminder of how fragile and precious our time can be.
