Fort Myers Clerk Leaves Two Teenage Daughters Behind in Hammer Slaying; Rolbert Joachin Arrested

A Fort Myers gas station clerk stepped outside her Chevron store on a normal morning and never made it back in. She got hit with a hammer in a sudden attack right there on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The woman died from her injuries, and now her two teenage daughters have to face life without their mom.

Rolbert Joachin, a 40-year-old man, is the one police arrested for the killing. They picked him up after a fast manhunt and booked him straight into the Lee County Jail.

Video from the station shows exactly what happened. A guy smashes up a sport utility vehicle with a hammer first. Then he turns and charges straight at the clerk, striking her over and over.

She worked right at that Chevron on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard near Highland Avenue. Coworkers say she left behind those two teenage girls who counted on her every day. The whole thing feels extra heavy because she was just trying to do her job and head home to her kids.

Fort Myers police put out the word fast that the suspect was armed and dangerous. They told folks to stay alert while they tracked him down.
He now faces charges for homicide and criminal mischief over the damaged property. The department asks anyone with extra details to call the Fort Myers Police Department or Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers.

This one hits close to home for a lot of people around here. A mom gone too soon, two girls left hurting, and a community wondering how something like this happens at a regular gas station stop.
