North Durham Crash Kills Jordon Jones, 22, and Kymarion Williams, 20, After Hit‑and‑Run

In North Durham, two young men died in a violent crash Tuesday afternoon after an alleged hit‑and‑run on Hebron Road, according to Durham police. The victims are 22‑year‑old Jordon Jones and 20‑year‑old Kymarion Williams, both of Durham. Jones was behind the wheel for both incidents, police confirmed.

It all began just after 5 p.m. when an SUV driven by Jones struck another vehicle on Hebron Road. Instead of stopping, police say he fled the scene. That decision kicked off a dangerous sequence of events that raced through North Durham’s quiet streets.

Minutes later, the same 2015 Ford Explorer was spotted on Denfield Street. Investigators say Jones lost control while driving at high speed, crossed into oncoming traffic, ran off the left side of the road, and slammed into a tree. The impact was deadly. Jones was pronounced dead at the scene. Williams, who had been riding in the rear seat, also died from injuries suffered in the crash.

Two other passengers were in the Explorer at the time. A 25‑year‑old man and a 20‑year‑old man were rushed to a local hospital with life‑threatening injuries. Police have not released their names or updates on their conditions.

Durham police have not confirmed whether anyone was hurt in the initial hit‑and‑run collision on Hebron Road or identified the other vehicle involved. Officers are continuing their investigation.

Investigators stressed that speed appears to be a major factor in the fatal Denfield Street crash. Detectives are reconstructing the events to understand exactly how the Explorer left the roadway and what might have contributed to the devastating outcome.

Police are urging anyone who saw either the hit‑and‑run or the crash to come forward. Drivers traveling in the area around that time who may have dashcam footage could help clarify what happened. Anyone with information can contact the Durham Police Department’s Traffic and Crash Team.
