Lakeisha Johnson Knoxville: A quiet evening turns deadly outside Jefferson Avenue residence in Knoxville
Knoxville, Tenn. — Lakeisha Johnson, 52, was found shot to death outside a home on Jefferson Avenue on Saturday evening, leaving a Knoxville neighborhood in shock and confusion.

Officers were called to the 2700 block of Jefferson Avenue around 5:30 p.m. on May 23 after reports of a shooting. When they arrived at 2729 Jefferson Avenue, they found Lakeisha Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders tried to help, but she was pronounced dead at the scene. The sudden loss turned a normal neighborhood evening into a crime scene filled with flashing lights and investigators.
Police quickly opened a homicide investigation. They began collecting evidence from the home and speaking with people in the area who may have seen or heard something unusual.
As the investigation developed, surveillance footage and other findings pointed to her husband, 53-year-old Shervon Johnson, as the main suspect in the shooting.
Authorities said Shervon Johnson was not at the scene when officers arrived. He was later believed to be in the Ball Camp Road area of Knoxville.
A short time before midnight, officers with a response team located him and took him into custody without resistance. He was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and possession of a weapon as a convicted felon.
The community has been left grappling with the sudden violence. Family members and friends are mourning Lakeisha Johnson, describing shock and disbelief over how quickly the situation unfolded.
Investigators say the case is still active. More details may be released as they continue to review evidence and piece together what led to the deadly shooting.
