Beaumont police are searching for answers after 23-year-old Marquise Tillman was shot and killed late Tuesday night outside the Pointe North Apartments on Magnolia Street. What was meant to be a regular evening turned tragic around 9:45 p.m. when someone reported shots fired near the north end complex.
Officers arrived at 3710 Magnolia Street just minutes after the first call and found Tillman lying near the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. Emergency crews tried to save him, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators cordoned off the area with yellow crime scene tape, called in an identification unit, and alerted detectives from the Criminal Investigation Division. A justice of the peace was also called in as officers began piecing together what happened.
Police have not yet named or arrested a suspect and are asking anyone with information to step forward. The Beaumont Police Department and Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers offer ways for people to share tips anonymously.
Tillman was more than a name on a police report. To those who knew him, he was a devoted father of three young daughters and someone who brought laughter to a room. The mother of his children remembered him as “fun to be around” and deeply committed to his family.
Beaumont’s mayor and police officials expressed sorrow over the loss, urging the community to support each other while the investigation continues. The hope remains that someone will come forward and help bring clarity to a family now faced with unimaginable grief.
As the city grapples with another violent incident, friends, neighbors and loved ones of Tillman are left mourning a life cut far too short. His children now face a future without their dad — a reality his family says leaves a hole that won’t soon be filled.
