Authorities say the situation started in Tulsa late at night when 20-year-old Holden Cothran allegedly abducted his 17-year-old girlfriend after a social gathering. What began as a normal night quickly shifted into a frightening chain of events that would stretch across two counties.
Investigators report that during the ordeal, the teenage girl was allegedly assaulted while being held against her will. The movement between locations created a fast-moving and unstable situation that left little room for safety or control.

At one point, the teen managed to break free and ran for help. She reached a gas station area near 31st Street and Memorial Drive, where she found a Good Samaritan willing to step in and assist her.
That moment of relief did not last long. Officials say Cothran arrived at the scene and allegedly pursued both the teen and the Good Samaritan. A confrontation followed, escalating the danger even further.
During that encounter, multiple shots were reportedly fired into the vehicle where the teen had taken cover. Thankfully, no one inside was struck, but the Good Samaritan was assaulted while trying to protect her and de-escalate the situation.
Despite the brief escape, the teen was forced back into Cothran’s vehicle. The situation then continued as they traveled into Rogers County, where the violence reportedly continued during the drive, including additional assault and more gunfire inside the vehicle. The teen survived the gunfire and eventually escaped again.
Law enforcement later located the vehicle and began a pursuit near Inola. The chase ended when deputies attempted a stop, and Cothran died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The vehicle crashed shortly after, bringing the incident to an end. The teen and the Good Samaritan were taken to hospitals with injuries not considered life-threatening.
Authorities continue to investigate the full sequence of events, including how the situation escalated so quickly and the timeline of the alleged abduction and assaults.
