Brandon Ilutsik, an Anchorage man, is being remembered after a fatal all-terrain vehicle crash near the Knik River that left him dead on a trail near Friday Creek. The incident happened on May 30 and has since shaken those closest to him.
Ilutsik, 42, was riding an ATV with two other people when the group moved along a remote trail. According to Alaska State Troopers, he went ahead of the others at some point during the ride. He never made it back.

When his companions reached him, they found him unresponsive and trapped under the ATV. They immediately tried to help, doing what they could to save his life while waiting for emergency responders to arrive.
Despite those efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities confirmed that the crash occurred in a rugged area near Friday Creek, not far from the Knik River region.
The news quickly reached his fiancée, Olivia Martin, who shared an emotional message on social media. She described Ilutsik as a deeply caring partner who brought joy into every day of her life.
She said he was close to completing his studies and had been working hard toward his goals. In her words, he was someone who always put others before himself and carried a quiet strength in everything he did.
Friends and family have since been sharing memories of him, describing a man who was steady, thoughtful, and driven. The suddenness of the loss has left many struggling to process what happened.
Authorities have not indicated foul play, and the case is being treated as a tragic accident involving off-road riding conditions in a remote terrain area.
