Xavier Joshua Strunk, St. Petersburg: A late-night ride ends in silence on Tyrone Boulevard
Xavier Joshua Strunk, a 22-year-old from Pinellas Park, Florida, was killed Tuesday night after a motorcycle crash in St. Petersburg. The collision happened at the intersection of Tyrone Boulevard and 21st Avenue North just before 10 p.m.

Strunk was riding a gray Suzuki motorcycle when the crash occurred in western St. Petersburg. The area is known for steady traffic, with nearby shops, homes, and constant movement along Tyrone Boulevard.
Police say a Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound and attempted a left turn onto Tyrone Boulevard. During the turn, the driver failed to yield to Strunk’s oncoming motorcycle.
The impact was severe. Strunk suffered critical injuries at the scene and was rushed to a nearby hospital. Emergency crews worked to save him, but he later died from his injuries.
The driver of the Ford F-150 stayed at the scene after the crash and cooperated with investigators. No charges have been filed at this time.
Police have not released the identity of the driver. They have also not confirmed whether speed, distraction, or impairment played any role in the collision.
The intersection where it happened sits in a busy stretch of western St. Petersburg, where turning traffic and through lanes often mix in close quarters. It is a routine commute zone for many drivers in the city.
Investigators continue to review what led to the crash, while a family in Pinellas Park is left facing sudden loss and unanswered questions.
