Madison County, Texas: Mujeeb Kharoti, crash on Highway 21 turns deadly after sudden loss of control.

A quiet Tuesday afternoon on Highway 21 in Madison County, Texas, ended in tragedy when 23-year-old Mujeeb Kharoti lost his life in a two-vehicle crash. The incident happened near Strawther Road and left a community in shock.

According to investigators with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Kharoti was driving a 2021 Toyota Corolla eastbound when conditions on the road took a dangerous turn. Officials said he was traveling at a speed that was unsafe for the weather at the time.

The vehicle reportedly lost control without warning. It crossed over the center line and entered the westbound lanes. That is where it collided with a 2019 Nissan Rogue coming in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Nissan Rogue survived the collision. That individual suffered minor injuries and was taken to St. Joseph Health in Bryan for medical care and evaluation.

As first responders worked the scene, a responding Madisonville police officer was also involved in a separate incident. The officer’s vehicle hydroplaned while en route and the officer was later taken to a hospital for precautionary evaluation.
