Travis Babcock, 31, died in a crash on Monday after a motorcycle accident on the Hughes Street overpass near SW First Avenue in Amarillo, Texas. The incident involved two motorcycles and an SUV traveling northbound at the time of the collision.
Police say all three vehicles were moving in the same direction when trouble started. Investigators reported that Babcock’s motorcycle lost control while on the overpass and drifted into oncoming traffic. That moment changed everything within seconds.

His bike collided head-on with an SUV. The impact was severe. Emergency crews arrived quickly, but Travis Babcock was pronounced dead at the scene due to the seriousness of his injuries.
A second motorcycle was also involved in the crash. The rider lost control during the incident but managed to avoid hitting the SUV. That rider, however, did not escape injury.
Authorities confirmed that both the second motorcyclist and the SUV driver were taken to nearby hospitals. Both were listed with life-threatening injuries following the crash.
The scene on the Hughes Street overpass was later cleared as investigators began working to understand exactly how the sequence of events unfolded. Traffic in the area was heavily affected for hours.
News of Babcock’s death spread quickly through Amarillo. Family and friends were left in shock, struggling to process how a normal ride ended in tragedy.
Those close to him are now holding onto memories rather than the moment of loss. They describe him as someone who built strong friendships and left a lasting mark on the people around him.
As the investigation continues, the focus has shifted toward support for the injured and comfort for grieving loved ones. The crash remains under review by authorities.
