Garry Chapman, Garry Chapman Priceville, Alabama: ACE honors top patrol work as fatal crash case still follows him

The award was announced through ACE Interdiction, which said the selection was based on performance data gathered from 2025 enforcement activity.
Chapman reported that his narcotics seizure totals ranked among the highest in his county, a key factor in the award decision. He also described the recognition as one of limited annual honors issued by the organization.
He said the process relied on measurable enforcement metrics, including arrests and drug seizure totals, reviewed over the course of the year. Fellow officers and command staff also supported his nomination.
The recognition arrives while Chapman’s law enforcement career continues to draw public attention following a high-speed pursuit in Alabama in September 2025 that ended in a fatal crash involving a teenager and injuries to others.
After the incident, Chapman was placed on administrative leave by the Priceville Police Department before later being dismissed from duty during internal proceedings.
That dismissal was appealed, and local officials reviewed the case. The final decision overturned the termination and replaced it with a 10-day unpaid suspension, allowing him to return to active service.
Chapman is the son of Duane “Dog” Chapman and the late Beth Chapman, both widely known from reality television focused on fugitive recovery. He said his father reacted positively to the award and the Criminal Apprehension Specialist designation tied to it.
