Talan Chesser was the kind of kid who stood out in a crowd. The 18-year-old just graduated from Kiefer High School and had his whole life ahead of him. Tragically, a violent car crash on Tuesday night cut his journey short and left his family completely broken.
Talan passed away on Wednesday morning from the injuries he suffered in the wreck. His mother was also in the vehicle during the crash and was hurt. She is currently recovering, though the community is still waiting for updates on her condition.

Back at school, Talan was known for his massive work ethic and his friendly attitude. He was a huge part of the Future Farmers of America program. Just this past May, he earned his State FFA Degree, which is one of the highest honors a student can get.
He also loved playing basketball for the local high school team. On the court, Talan was a dedicated athlete who always lifted his teammates up. Friends say he had an infectious smile that could instantly brighten up any room he walked into.
The news of his death shook the entire town to its core. Kiefer Public Schools Superintendent Randy Shaw shared the tragic update with everyone on Wednesday morning. He described Talan as an exceptional student who truly represented the best of the town.
School officials immediately opened up the Ag Building to give people a place to gather. They brought in grief counselors to support the students, teachers, and neighbors. Everyone needed a safe space to cry and remember the young graduate.
The loss is being felt far beyond the school walls as agricultural groups and friends send in their condolences. The community is now rallying around the Chesser family during this terrible time. They are offering continuous prayers and support to help them heal.
