The tragedy happened around 4:48 p.m. on June 18. Regina was riding as a passenger in a vehicle. They were traveling along the historic National Trails Highway. Most people know this famous stretch of road as Route 66.
The crash occurred in a very quiet place called Amboy. Amboy is a remote desert community in California. Many people call it a ghost town. It sits right in the middle of the massive Mojave Desert.
This lonely town is right near the Amboy Crater. The crater is an old, dormant volcano. The area looks like something out of a movie. In fact, it is famous for the old Roy’s Motel and Cafe.

The California Highway Patrol rushed out to the desert scene. San Bernardino County officials soon followed. The coroner’s office sadly pronounced the teenager dead right there on the highway. It was a single-vehicle accident.
