A quiet Saturday afternoon turned into a total nightmare for a local community. A regular weekend day took a devastating turn when a dispute ended in gunfire. When the chaos finally stopped, a man lost his life and an entire neighborhood was left in deep shock.
The tragic incident took place around 3:30 p.m. near the intersection of Osceola and Calumet streets. The area is right off the Interstate 110 exit. What started as a normal weekend day quickly transformed into a major active crime scene.

Forty-nine-year-old Randall Holmes was the man who lost his life in the sudden burst of violence. Responding officers found him at the scene with fatal injuries. Authorities officially pronounced him dead right there on the street.
The shooting also left four other people dealing with painful gunshot wounds. Emergency medical workers arrived quickly to treat the injured victims. Paramedics loaded them into ambulances and rushed them to local hospitals for treatment.
Detectives later found out that the whole thing started because of a teenage argument. A group of young people were screaming at each other on the block. The words flew back and forth before things took a very physical turn.
The shouting match quickly exploded into an all-out fistfight. During the middle of the physical struggle, someone brought a gun into the mix. Multiple shots were fired into the crowd in a matter of seconds.
The Baton Rouge Police Department is still hunting for answers and trying to find out who held the weapon. Officers have not released any information regarding suspects or potential criminal charges yet. The investigation remains very active as police look for leads.
