Sunday evenings in a small town are usually quiet. People are winding down, getting ready for the week ahead, and enjoying the last bits of the weekend. But this past Sunday turned into an absolute nightmare for a family in New Philadelphia. A simple drive ended in a terrible wreck that changed everything in a split second.
Ridge Reichman was just 18 years old. He had his whole life ahead of him, full of dreams and big plans. He was out driving his 2021 Nissan Altima, minding his own business, when his path crossed with another vehicle at a local crossroads.

The crash happened right at the intersection of County Road 103 and Township Road 1277. Locals know this area as North Orchard Road and Northwood Avenue in Lawrence Township. It is a spot where people pass by every single day without a second thought, but now it is the site of an unforgettable tragedy.
Ridge’s sedan collided heavily with a large 2019 Ram 1500 pickup truck. The impact was severe, leaving the smaller car badly damaged. First responders rushed to the scene as fast as they could, working quickly to get the young driver out of the wreckage.
Emergency crews transported Ridge straight to Mercy Hospital. Doctors and medical staff did everything they could to save him. Tragically, his injuries were just too severe, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital a short time later.
Meanwhile, the people back home are completely heartbroken. The news of Ridge’s passing traveled fast through the close-knit New Philadelphia community. Friends and neighbors are left trying to make sense of a young life that was taken way too soon.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol is still working hard to figure out exactly what caused the collision. Officials have not given out any extra details about who had the right of way or what went wrong. For now, a grieving town is holding onto their memories of Ridge and wishing him eternal peace.
