Rhett Luttrell, Pulaski: Tragic freak accident turns Independence Day celebration into a family’s worst nightmare.

Fourth of July is usually all about backyard barbecues, sparklers, and family laughs. But this past weekend, a neighborhood celebration in Kentucky turned into a complete nightmare that nobody saw coming.

A sweet four-year-old boy named Rhett Luttrell was right in the middle of the holiday fun. He was just a happy little kid enjoying the summer night with the people who loved him most.

Everything changed in a split second on Saturday night out on Jacksboro Street. What started as a fun backyard display quickly went completely off the rails.

Local officials say a heavy fireworks launch tube suddenly lost its balance and tipped over right as it was firing. The heavy firework shot sideways instead of up, striking little Rhett directly in his torso.

First responders rushed out to the home as fast as they could, but the damage was already done. The Pulaski County Coroner’s Office later confirmed that the poor boy passed away from the severe impact.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office looked into the whole scene to figure out what went wrong. They ultimately called the entire thing a terrible freak accident that just couldn’t be stopped.

Now, the whole local community is stepping up to wrap their arms around the grieving family. Folks everywhere are sending up non-stop prayers and holding on tight to every beautiful memory of Rhett’s short life.
