YOUNGSVILLE, La.: Woman, 70, Found Dead After Police Chase; Suspect Arrested

In Youngsville early Friday, police were called about a stolen SUV and soon found themselves at the center of a tragedy that has shaken this close-knit Louisiana town. The SUV was reported taken from a home on Fourth Street shortly after 9:30 a.m. on February 6. Almost immediately, officers located the vehicle and tried to stop it, only to be led on a brief chase through quiet neighborhood streets.

Twenty-year-old Dylan Green was the driver police pursued. After the short sprint with officers, he was taken into custody without publicized injury. But the day’s events were far from over. Moments after his arrest, dispatch sent another call from the same Fourth Street area about an unresponsive woman inside the home where the SUV had been reported stolen.

First responders rushed to the house and found 70-year-old Thelma Thibeaux inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene. The Youngsville Police Department has confirmed her death is being treated as a homicide, though investigators are still piecing together exactly what happened and how the stolen vehicle report connects to her death.

Neighbors describe the area as usually calm and peaceful. A house on Fourth Street now stands cordoned off with police tape, and residents are left grappling with the sudden loss of someone they say was well known in the community. Friends and family have not yet released detailed statements, but the sense of shock is widespread.

Green faces multiple charges tied to the morning’s events. Police have booked him on first-degree murder, aggravated flight from an officer and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He is being held at the Lafayette Parish Correctional Center as detectives continue to gather evidence.

At this stage, authorities have not publicly shared details about a motive or how investigators believe Thibeaux was killed. The investigation remains active, with detectives urging anyone with information to contact the Youngsville Police Department.

This story is developing. More updates are expected as police releases additional facts and neighbors continue to process the shocking loss of a beloved community member.
