Rock Hill is reeling from a deadly confrontation that ended the lives of a 4-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man on Frank Street Tuesday evening. Police were dispatched shortly after 7:30 p.m. to reports of gunfire at a home and found three people suffering from gunshot wounds. The youngest victim and the older teen were pronounced dead after the incident.
According to authorities, the shooting started during a disagreement between the 19-year-old and a 34-year-old man identified as Cedric Akeen Creighton. The argument quickly escalated into a shootout inside the house. Both men were armed and fired at each other, and the gunfire continued outside. In the chaos, the child, who was inside the home, was hit.

Creighton was also shot but survived. Police say he is now facing multiple charges, among them two counts of murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and being a prohibited person in possession of a firearm. He remains under medical care and will be taken into custody once he is released.
The family and friends of the victims are devastated. For many in the neighborhood, the reality that a small child lost his life is almost too much to grasp. Some neighbors talked about the senselessness of the violence, saying nothing about their street ever suggested this kind of tragedy.
Officials have stressed that this was an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public. Still, the community’s sense of safety has been shaken. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward to help with their investigation.
As sorrow and questions linger, local leaders are pushing for community dialogue about gun violence and conflict resolution. They stress that tools to settle disputes without guns are always preferable, especially in areas where children could be harmed.
Many residents say they will remember both victims and hope that steps taken now will prevent another family from suffering such a profound loss.
