Barren County Tragedy: Glasgow Woman and Unborn Baby Killed in Shooting

Barren County — Ava Woodcock, 22, was shot and killed Monday afternoon while sitting in a vehicle on Cleveland Avenue in Glasgow. The pain of losing her and her unborn child has rippled through the community, leaving friends and family struggling to understand how a routine day turned into a nightmare.

Police say officers responded to a call reporting a woman shot inside a parked car. When first responders arrived, Woodcock was alive but gravely wounded. She was rushed to T.J. Samson Community Hospital and later flown to a hospital in Louisville as medics fought to save her life. Despite their efforts, Ava and her unborn baby died Tuesday, leaving behind loved ones to mourn two lives lost.

Investigators linked the shooting to a domestic dispute. They say 25‑year‑old Brandon Lee Bond, also of Glasgow, shot Woodcock during an argument. After the incident, Bond fled into nearby woods with a weapon. Officers tracked him down and took him into custody without further violence.

Bond now sits in the Barren County Detention Center facing multiple charges, including murder in a domestic violence case, first‑degree fetal homicide and fleeing or evading law enforcement. His bond was set at $2 million during an arraignment held by video from the jail, where a judge ordered him held until his next hearing.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for mid‑April, where prosecutors will present evidence and bond conditions may be revisited. Meanwhile, police say their investigation into the shooting continues as they piece together every moment leading up to the tragedy.

In the wake of her death, members of the community rallied around Woodcock’s family. People have shared memories of her kindness and warm spirit, and a fundraiser has helped provide support for her loved ones during this difficult time.

Friends describe Ava as someone who brought joy to those around her, a young woman with plans and dreams that now will never be fulfilled. Her loss, and that of her unborn child, has left a void in the hearts of many who knew her.
