Bessemer Driveway Tragedy: Darius Boglin Fatally Stabbed Outside Home

The quiet of a Bessemer neighborhood was shattered Wednesday night when 45-year-old Darius Montreal Boglin was found dying in a driveway, the victim of a stabbing that police say ended a troubled moment between two people who once shared a relationship.

Officers rushed to the 3100 block of Avenue B at about 7:49 p.m. after reports of a stabbing. When they arrived, they discovered Boglin badly wounded in the driveway. The scene was tense and urgent as officers and responders tried to assess the situation, but the injuries were severe.
Boglin was pronounced dead at the scene at 8:10 p.m., only minutes after police arrived. The grim discovery turned the residential driveway into a crime scene as investigators worked to piece together what had unfolded just moments earlier.

Police say Boglin had been in a dating relationship with 43-year-old Wilhelmina Leigh Carlton. According to investigators, the two were together at the time of the incident. What exactly sparked the confrontation remains unclear, but charging documents give a brief glimpse into the moment that turned deadly.

Authorities say Carlton stabbed Boglin during an encounter in which he allegedly grabbed her from behind. The confrontation escalated quickly, leaving Boglin mortally wounded before help could arrive.

Carlton remained at the scene when officers showed up. Police took her into custody without incident and later booked her into the Jefferson County Jail. Court records show she is now charged with murder in connection with Boglin’s death.

Carlton was booked into the jail on March 5 and is being held without bond as the case moves through the court system. Investigators continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter, while Boglin’s death adds another painful chapter to a night that began like any other in the Bessemer neighborhood.

For those who live nearby, the image of flashing lights and police tape in a quiet driveway will not fade quickly. The loss of Darius Boglin has left a heavy silence where a life once stood only hours before.
