BARSTOW Woman Sought After Friend Fatally Shot on First Avenue

Barstow police are urgently searching for a local woman they say is armed and dangerous after a shooting left a 27‑year‑old woman dead earlier this month. The call came late at night, and the town has been rattled ever since.

Late on the night of January 16, officers rushed to the 200 block of North First Avenue after multiple people reported hearing shots fired in that quiet Barstow neighborhood. It was just before midnight when the first calls hit dispatch.

As officers scoured the scene for signs of a victim or witnesses, Barstow Community Hospital alerted police that a shooting victim had just arrived for treatment. Officers quickly went to the hospital and found 27‑year‑old Jessie Moore suffering from several gunshot wounds. Despite the best efforts of medical staff, Moore did not survive.

Detectives and evidence technicians took over the investigation early the next day. They interviewed people who were nearby and gathered what evidence they could at both the scene and the hospital. Through that work, police identified a suspect: 36‑year‑old Alyse Brown, a Barstow resident.

Police now believe Brown was involved in the killing and have issued a warrant charging her with murder under California Penal Code 187(a). She has not been caught, and investigators warn she should be considered both armed and dangerous.

Officers are asking the public for help. Detective Bryce Carson and other members of the Barstow Police Department are urging anyone with information about Brown’s whereabouts to come forward. Tips can be phoned in directly or left anonymously through crime hotlines.

Families in Barstow are shaken by the loss of Moore, remembered by friends as a young woman with her whole life ahead of her. The search for Brown continues, with police hoping a community lead will bring justice and closure in this tragic night that has left a small California city on edge.
