A quiet Saturday evening turned tragic in Columbus when 65-year-old Alvin Duncan lost his life in a motorcycle crash along one of the city’s busiest highway corridors.
According to authorities, Duncan was riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycle southbound on Interstate 71 just north of the Interstate 670 interchange at around 8:15 p.m. on June 6. For reasons that remain unknown, he lost control of the motorcycle and was thrown from the bike.

Emergency crews from the Columbus Fire Department rushed to the scene after receiving reports of the crash. Despite their efforts, Duncan was pronounced dead at the location.
Investigators said no other vehicles were involved in the incident. As of June 7, police had not identified any specific factor that may have caused the motorcycle to leave control. The investigation remains active as authorities continue to examine every available piece of evidence.
The crash happened on a heavily traveled stretch of Interstate 71 near downtown Columbus. The area serves thousands of drivers every day and acts as a major transportation route connecting different parts of central Ohio. Evening traffic in the corridor is often busy as local commuters mix with travelers moving through the city.
The section near Interstate 670 is especially complex, featuring multiple ramps, merging lanes, and connections to key destinations throughout Columbus. The interchange provides access to several major districts and transportation routes, making it one of the most active roadway areas in the region.
Police have not released information suggesting that weather, roadway conditions, mechanical issues, or driver-related factors played a role in the crash. Investigators are continuing to review the circumstances that led to the deadly incident.
The Columbus Division of Police Accident Investigation Unit is leading the case. Specialists are examining physical evidence from the scene and working to determine exactly what happened in the moments before Duncan lost control of his motorcycle.
Authorities have not released Duncan’s hometown. Anyone with information that may help investigators is encouraged to contact police as the investigation continues.
