Macon Woman Teairka Brown Dies After Being Hit Crossing Pio Nono Avenue

Macon, Georgia – A 36-year-old woman died Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Pio Nono Avenue, law enforcement confirmed.

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened around 7:24 p.m. in the 1400 block of Pio Nono Avenue near Montpelier Avenue. Deputies and emergency crews rushed to the scene and found the victim, later identified as Teairka Brown, lying unresponsive in the roadway.

Officials said Brown was in the middle of crossing the busy street when a vehicle hit her. The driver of that vehicle stopped and stayed at the scene, cooperating with deputies as they began their investigation. Emergency medical personnel worked to save Brown’s life, but she succumbed to her injuries before she could be transported to a hospital.

Brown was pronounced dead at the scene by the county’s chief deputy coroner shortly after first responders arrived. Her passing sent shock through neighbors and those who knew her, as friends and family members struggled to make sense of the sudden loss.
