Jacob Wagner, Hudson: Tragic intersection crash takes life of beloved local bacon maker.

Our local community is hurting deeply today. A beloved face from our weekly farmers’ markets has passed away. Jacob “Jake” Wagner was a bright light in River Falls and Hudson. He lost his life on Wednesday afternoon in a terrible motorcycle crash. The entire neighborhood is completely heartbroken by the sudden news.

The accident happened right in the middle of a busy day. Emergency workers rushed to the scene around 1:30 p.m. They found Jake at the corner of Hanley Road and Carmichael Road. His motorcycle had collided with a pickup truck. First responders tried their absolute best to save him right there on the pavement.

Jake did everything he was supposed to do to stay safe. Police confirmed that he was wearing his helmet during the ride. Paramedics quickly moved him to a nearby hospital. Sadly, his injuries were just too severe. He passed away shortly after arriving at the medical center.

Jake was famous around these parts for his incredible food. He was the passionate co-owner of South Ridge Ranch Bacon. His business was a true staple of our local food scene. People looked forward to buying his delicious small-batch bacon every single week.

His hard work reached far beyond his own hometown of River Falls. Jake regularly supplied fresh products to busy markets in Hudson and nearby communities. He loved chatting with his customers and sharing cooking tips. For Jake, his business was all about connecting with people.

Local market organizers are now sharing beautiful tributes online. The folks at the Hudson Farmers Market remember him with deep fondness. The team at the Cottage Grove UCC Farmers Market expressed their sorrow too. They all say he brought pure joy to every single event.

Jake was the kind of guy who made every room brighter just by walking into it. He leaves behind a massive legacy as a dedicated husband and a loving father. He was a loyal friend to so many people in our area. This community will never forget the warmth and kindness he brought into our lives.
