Rocky Mount Nydashia McClain, a 20-year-old woman, lost her life in a hit-and-run crash late Monday night on North Wesleyan Boulevard.
It happened around 11:00 p.m. in the 2600 block of the road. Police say officers were called out after reports of a crash involving injuries.
When emergency crews arrived, they found McClain badly injured at the scene. Despite efforts to help her, she was pronounced dead right there on the roadside.
The suddenness of it has left many in shock. Friends and people who knew her say it still does not feel real, describing her as young, present, and full of life.
