Collingdale, Pa. Dayvon Terry Found Dead After Armed Break-In and Fire Inside Rhodes Avenue Home

Collingdale, Pa. — A quiet street in Collingdale turned into the center of a deadly investigation after Dayvon Terry, 35, was found dead inside a home on the unit block of Rhodes Avenue following a burglary and possible fire.

Authorities say the situation began late Tuesday night when a caretaker monitoring security cameras noticed something unusual inside the property. At about 9:27 p.m., police were alerted after two armed individuals were seen inside without permission.

Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage that appears to show Terry entering the home around 9:24 p.m. through a rear door. He was reportedly carrying a firearm at the time he came inside.

Moments later, Terry is seen moving through the residence and then opening the front door for 44-year-old Barry E. Roberts. According to investigators, Roberts entered the home and was handed the weapon shortly after.

The footage further shows both men moving through the house and gathering items. Authorities say belongings, including shoes and other objects, were placed into trash bags as they continued inside the property.

At one point during the incident, a responding officer briefly approached the front of the home, according to an affidavit. However, the situation continued for several more hours without immediate resolution.

Around 12:45 a.m., Barry E. Roberts was taken into custody after exiting the home through a basement window. Soon after, Dayvon Terry was found deceased inside the residence. Officials have not yet confirmed what caused his death, and it remains unclear whether a reported house fire inside the home played any role in the outcome.

Barry E. Roberts is now facing serious charges tied to the burglary. Investigators say the full sequence of events is still under review as they work to understand exactly what happened inside the home that night.
