What began as an ordinary Thursday night drive in Orangeburg County ended in tragedy when 25-year-old Shyreik Davis lost his life following a devastating single-vehicle crash near Coach Road.
According to authorities, the crash happened around 9:30 p.m. on U.S. 176, also known as Old State Road. Investigators said a Honda Accord was traveling eastbound when the driver attempted to avoid a deer that had entered the roadway.

In the moments that followed, the vehicle reportedly left the road, overturned, and slammed into a tree. The violent crash brought emergency crews rushing to the scene as they worked to help those inside the vehicle.
Davis suffered critical injuries and was transported to a hospital in Charleston for emergency treatment. Medical teams fought to save him, but he later died from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
A passenger who was also inside the Honda Accord survived the collision and was taken to a hospital. Officials have not released details about the passenger’s condition.
