Oklahoma City police say a young man died early Saturday after a fight in a parking lot behind an event center turned deadly. Just after 3 a.m., officers were called to the 3100 block of North Portland Avenue in northwest Oklahoma City following reports of gunfire and a disturbance. When they arrived, they found 19‑year‑old Nestor Aguillar with serious injuries. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but later died from his wounds.
Friends and family describe Aguillar as quiet and well‑liked around his neighborhood. He had only recently turned 19 and had plans for the future that now won’t be realized. People who knew him said he wasn’t someone prone to trouble, making the sudden violence and loss even harder for loved ones to process.

Police have said the shooting stemmed from an argument that escalated into violence in the parking lot outside the event center just off Northwest 28th Street. Several people were at the scene when gunfire broke out, and officers are still trying to piece together what caused the young man to be shot. At this point, no one has been arrested.
Neighbors in that part of northwest Oklahoma City say they were startled by the violence so early on a weekend morning. Some said they heard loud voices before gunshots, while others only learned of the incident from police tape and news crews later in the day.
Investigators have interviewed multiple witnesses in hopes of understanding the sequence of events and identifying any individuals involved. Police have asked anyone with information to come forward as the case remains open and active. For now, authorities continue to follow leads as they work to hold someone accountable.
For Aguillar’s family, the unanswered questions and sudden loss are the hardest parts. Friends say they are grieving and trying to remember the happy moments they shared with him. As the community absorbs the shock, prayers and condolences continue to pour in for the young man whose life ended far too soon.
