LOVELAND, Colo. — Just before sunrise gave way to the morning rush, a quiet stretch of Highway 402 turned into a scene of heartbreak. Logan Zeigler, a 23-year-old from Loveland, lost his life in a violent crash that unfolded in seconds but left a lasting mark on a shaken community.
Police say the collision happened shortly before 8 a.m. on April 16 at the intersection of Highway 402 and County Road 7. Zeigler was riding his Suzuki GSX motorcycle eastbound, heading toward the junction, when everything changed.

At the same moment, a 47-year-old woman from Greeley was driving a GMC Acadia westbound on the same highway. As she attempted to make a left turn onto County Road 7, her SUV moved directly into the path of Zeigler’s oncoming motorcycle.
The impact was immediate and devastating. Zeigler was thrown from his bike, and despite the quick response from officers and emergency crews, he suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. The loss was sudden, leaving behind questions, grief, and a deep sense of what could have been.
The driver of the SUV survived but was injured. She was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released details about the extent of her injuries, but confirmed she remained under medical care following the crash.
Investigators believe speed may have played a role in the collision, though the full picture is still being pieced together. Officials were clear on one point—there is no indication that drugs or alcohol contributed to the crash.
Given the severity of the incident, the department’s specialized crash team stepped in to reconstruct what happened. The intersection stayed closed for about three hours as crews worked carefully, documenting the scene and clearing debris from the roadway.
As the investigation continues, officials are urging drivers to stay alert, especially at busy intersections where a single miscalculation can turn deadly. Behind the facts and figures is a young man whose life ended far too soon, and a community now left to process the loss.
