Folks in Alton are dealing with a heavy heart today. A terrible tragedy struck the peaceful Tuscany Village Subdivision on a quiet Tuesday night. Three local women lost their lives in a sudden wave of violence inside a home. The community is still in total shock trying to make sense of it all.
It all started around 9:13 p.m. when dispatchers got a call about a disturbance. Alton Police Chief Mark Perez sent his officers rushing over to the house. Nobody expected to find such a heartbreaking scene waiting for them. The situation quickly turned into a massive crime scene.

When the cops walked through the doors on East Roosevelt Avenue, they found absolute devastation. Two people had already passed away right there inside the house. A third person was still holding on and was badly hurt. The officers immediately called for emergency medical crews to help.
Paramedics quickly loaded the surviving victim into an ambulance. They sped off to a nearby hospital hoping to save her life. Sadly, the Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office shared some awful news the next morning. The third victim did not make it, bringing the total number of lives lost to three.
By Wednesday afternoon, investigators finally released the names of the victims. We now know them as 56-year-old Sweeta Ram, 46-year-old Kamlesh Rani, and 73-year-old Mindeer Kaur. Right now, the police are keeping quiet about how the women knew each other. They are also trying to figure out if the suspect had any ties to the family.
The person responsible for this nightmare did not stick around to face the music. The suspect took off before the first patrol cars even pulled up to the house. But the cops were hot on their trail right away. A wild police chase kicked off through the local streets.
The runaway driver eventually lost control of the vehicle. The chase came to a sudden end when the suspect crashed near 4 Mile Line Road and Glasscock Road. Officers quickly moved in and slapped the handcuffs on without any more trouble. The suspect is now locked up and off the streets.
The investigation is far from over. Cops have been knocking on doors and searching the tall grass near 6 Mile Line Road for any hidden clues. Family members have also been speaking with detectives to help piece the puzzle together. Even though the streets are safe again, the folks in Alton have a long road of healing ahead of them.
