The quiet streets of Milledgeville woke up to a total nightmare on Friday morning. A heartbreaking scene unfolded inside a home on North Richmond Street, leaving an entire neighborhood completely shaken. Folks are trying to process a loss that just doesn’t make any sense.
Briuna Harty was 41 years old and had so much to look forward to. She was pregnant, preparing to bring a new life into this world, and embracing everything the future had in store for her. Her friends and loved ones remember her as a bright light, someone who was deeply cherished by everyone around her.

That future was cut short sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. on Friday. Investigators believe that is when a domestic tragedy took place inside the house. Briuna was fatally shot in an act of violence that has left her family in absolute pieces.
Officers rushed to the 100 block of North Richmond Street around 10:15 a.m. They found Briuna already gone. Right next to her was 33-year-old Jajuan Taylor, who police say took his own life after pulling the trigger.
The loss is doubly painful because of the innocent unborn baby who never got a chance at life. For Briuna’s family, the grief is an irreplaceable void that words cannot even begin to describe. They are left with nothing but unanswered questions and a deep, agonizing ache.
Since the news broke, a massive wave of love and support has started pouring in from all over. Friends and neighbors are coming together, sharing fond memories, and offering up prayers to get through this dark time. The community is doing its best to hold up a family dealing with profound sorrow.
It is a stark reminder of how fast everything can change in the blink of an eye. Right now, the main focus for everyone in town is wrapping their arms around Briuna’s loved ones. They are clinging to her memory and hoping to find a little bit of healing in the tough days ahead.
