Midland, Texas Mourns Angel Galindo After Dawn Highway 302 Crash

MIDLAND, Texas — The sun had barely risen when life changed forever for one West Texas family. Angel Galindo, just 26 years old, was killed early Saturday morning in a violent two-vehicle crash that has left the Midland community shaken and grieving.

The crash happened around 6:25 a.m. on Jan. 31, 2026, along State Highway 302 near mile marker 214 in Winkler County. Angel was driving westbound in a GMC Sierra, heading into the quiet stretch of highway that many locals know too well. For reasons still unknown, his truck crossed into the eastbound lane.

Moments later, the GMC collided head-on with a 2025 Ford F-250. The impact was devastating. First responders rushed to the scene as traffic came to a standstill in the early morning darkness, the stillness broken by flashing lights and sirens.

Angel was wearing his seat belt and was quickly transported to Winkler Memorial Hospital. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. The driver of the Ford pickup also had a seat belt on and suffered only minor injuries.

News of Angel’s death spread quickly through Midland. Friends describe him as warm, generous, and deeply loyal. He was the kind of person who showed up without being asked and left people better than he found them. His smile, they say, was easy to recognize and hard to forget.

Family members are now facing a loss that feels impossible to put into words. A young life, full of plans and promise, was cut short on an ordinary morning that was supposed to be just another drive.

The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the cause of the crash. For now, questions remain unanswered, and the stretch of Highway 302 where Angel died stands as a quiet reminder of how quickly everything can change.

As Midland mourns, the focus has turned to remembering Angel Galindo not for how he died, but for how he lived. His kindness, his spirit, and the love he gave so freely will live on in the people who knew him and in a community that will not forget his name.
