TROUP, TEXAS: RAYMOND ROBERSON III DIES AFTER SUDDEN WRONG-WAY COLLISION

The small town of Troup is feeling a lot heavier today as folks wrap their heads
around the loss of Raymond Jerald Roberson III. Friday afternoon started out
like any other, but by sunset, a local family’s world had completely flipped
upside down. Raymond was a familiar face around here, someone people genuinely
liked having around, and seeing his seat empty now is hitting everyone hard.

It all went down on State Highway 110 around 3:52 p.m. Raymond was behind the
wheel of his 2012 Chevrolet SUV, heading north through Cherokee County. For
reasons nobody can quite figure out yet, his Chevy crossed over into the
southbound lane. That’s when things took a turn for the worse, and he collided
head-on with a Buick LeSabre that was just traveling the opposite way.

Emergency lights were flashing everywhere shortly after the impact. First
responders got to the scene quick and rushed Raymond over to a nearby hospital.
Doctors and nurses did everything they possibly could to pull him through.
Sadly, despite all the medical hustle and prayer, he was pronounced dead. It
is the kind of news that leaves a community absolutely breathless.

If you talk to anyone who knew Raymond, they’ll tell you he had a real spirit
about him. He wasn’t just another guy in the neighborhood; he was someone
who made an impression on you. Whether it was a quick chat or a long story,
he left a mark. Now, his family and friends are left holding onto those
memories while trying to make sense of a Friday that ended way too soon.

Social media is already filling up with tributes and sweet notes for the man
many just knew as Raymond. You can see the heartbreak in every post. People
from all over Cherokee County are reaching out, offering a shoulder to lean
on or a warm meal for the family. It is a tough time, and the support is
the only thing keeping some of them upright right now.

State Troopers are still out there trying to piece the whole puzzle together.
They are looking at the road, the cars, and the timing to figure out exactly
why the SUV crossed that line. But for the people in Troup, the technical
details don’t change the fact that they lost a good one. The investigation
will take time, but the grief is very much here now.

It is a stinging reminder of how fast things can change on these Texas
highways. One minute you’re driving home, and the next, everything is
different. Raymond’s passing has left a hole in Troup that won’t be filled
anytime soon. For now, his loved ones are just leaning on each other and
remembering the man who meant so much to them.
