Geismar’s quiet Friday morning turned tragic as the community learned that 28‑year‑old Craig Burns of Carville lost his life in a motorcycle crash along Louisiana Highway 30 just before 6 a.m. Friday. The Louisiana State Police confirmed that Burns was headed east on his 2025 Kawasaki Ninja when another vehicle pulled directly into his path from a private road, leading to a devastating collision that would claim his life.
Burns was wearing a helmet when the crash happened around 5:45 a.m., according to state police. Authorities said a 2015 Toyota Corolla was preparing to turn west onto La. 30 from a private road and drove straight into the lane where Burns was riding. The front of Burns’ motorcycle struck the driver’s side front fender and door of the Corolla.

First responders rushed Burns to a nearby hospital after the impact, but he later died from his injuries. The driver of the Toyota, who was unrestrained at the time of the crash, was not hurt. Investigators do not believe impairment was a factor, but toxicology tests have been taken as part of the ongoing review.
Family and friends are left grappling with shock and sorrow. Burns was remembered by loved ones as full of life, someone whose presence touched those around him. In a place like Ascension Parish, where neighbors know one another by name and wave as they pass, news like this spreads quickly, bringing grief across generations and circles of friends.
State police officials offered a reminder about road safety in the wake of the crash, urging both drivers and riders to stay alert and cautious. With warmer weather on the horizon, more motorcycles are expected on Louisiana roads — a fact that police stress should encourage all motorists to watch for each other and share the road responsibly.
Burns’ death has cast a long shadow over his hometown. Friends have shared memories of his vibrant energy, from weekend rides to quiet evenings with family. Messages of love and condolences have filled social feeds, reflecting the deep loss felt by those who knew him.
Investigators are still piecing together the final details of what led to the deadly turn that morning. For now, the community holds its breath, honors his memory, and pushes for safer roads so fewer families must face this kind of grief.
