HARRINGTON WOMAN DIESEL IN CRASH, LEFT BEHIND THREE CHILDREN

Harrington was shaken late Thursday night when a 27‑year‑old woman from nearby Frederica lost her life in a single‑vehicle crash. The collision happened shortly after 7 p.m. on Carpenters Bridge Road, just east of Jackson Ditch Road, according to state police reports.

Officials say the Nissan Pathfinder the woman was driving failed to follow a gentle curve in the road. The SUV went off the north side of the pavement and struck a tree hard. First responders arrived quickly, but the driver, later identified as Elizabeth Draper, was badly hurt. She was taken to a hospital where she died from her injuries.

Friends and family describe Draper as someone with a big heart and a joyful laugh. She was a devoted mother whose three children were the center of her world. Her eldest, age 11, and her two younger children, ages 3 and 6 months, are now without their mom.

The roadway was closed for about three hours as police and reconstruction teams investigated the scene. Troopers are urging anyone who saw the crash or has information to come forward to help with their inquiry.

Mourners in the community have organized support for Draper’s family. Contributions are being gathered to help with funeral costs and care for her children during this devastating time.
Many in Frederica and Harrington say they are struggling to process her sudden loss. Neighbors remember Draper as warm, caring, and deeply proud to be a mother. Her death is felt by many who knew her.

Her children now face a future without her guiding presence, and the community continues to rally around them. The investigation remains open as police work to understand every detail of the crash.
