Authorities say the suspect, identified as 47‑year‑old Scott Raymond Thompson of Mount Enterprise, fled the home before law enforcement got there. Investigators traced his movements through surveillance and license plate tracking as he drove north out of Rusk County. The hunt led officers to Arkansas.

Late Wednesday night, around 9 p.m., Arkansas State Police and U.S. Marshals located Scott Thompson in Russellville, Arkansas. He was taken into custody without further incident. He now sits in the Pope County Jail there, charged with murder and awaiting transfer back to Rusk County to face justice.

Friends and relatives gathered at makeshift memorials around town, leaving flowers and notes of love and disbelief. Those who knew Amanda struggle to understand how a routine day turned into a nightmare. Her loss has left a gap in the community that many say will not be easy to fill.

The sheriff’s office ordered an autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials have asked for privacy for the family as they work to gather all the facts. In the meantime, people in the area are coming together to support one another through their grief.

This tragic event has reignited conversations about family violence and the importance of early intervention. Local leaders say they are determined to do more to help those in danger before situations escalate to this level.
