BEAUMONT, Texas: Man Found Shot Dead in Wrecked Car, Suspect Wanted

BEAUMONT, Texas — A quiet Friday night in the South Park neighborhood of Beaumont turned tragic when police discovered a man dead inside a wrecked vehicle after an apparent shooting. Investigators say the victim, whose name hasn’t been released, was found around 8:40 p.m. on Woodrow Avenue, after someone called 911 about gunfire and a crash. The scene quickly became a homicide investigation.

Officers arrived to find the victim slumped inside his car with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Despite efforts to learn what happened, police have released few details about how the shooting unfolded or what led to the confrontation. An autopsy has been ordered by Justice of the Peace Ransom Jones to help answer those questions.

Detectives say they have identified an 18-year-old Beaumont man, Charles Siggers, as a suspect in the killing and have secured an active murder warrant for him. Siggers is being sought by law enforcement, though authorities have not said where he might be or whether he has an attorney or supporters speaking on his behalf.

The victim’s family is still waiting for official confirmation of his identity. Even as grief grips loved ones, neighbors in the South Park area are left shaken by the violence, wondering why someone was gunned down in their midst. Beaumont police are urging anyone who might have witnessed the incident to come forward.

Late Friday night also brought reports of a second shooting not far from Woodrow Avenue. Police have not confirmed whether it’s connected, but the timing and proximity have raised questions in the community about a possible link. Investigators say that information from the public could help clarify what happened.

The Beaumont Police Department is asking anyone with information to call the department at 409-832-1234 or contact Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers at 409-833-TIPS (8477). Tips can be left anonymously if preferred.

As this case develops, family, friends and neighbors are left hoping for answers — and for justice — in a young man’s death that has left a community unsettled.
