WAYNE TOWNSHIP CRASH KILLS ADAM CORNELISON, MACKENZIE LAWRENCE AND BROOKLYN STANLEY

In Wayne Township near Zanesville, Ohio, three people died Saturday afternoon after a violent head-on collision on State Route 60 about 3 p.m. Three lives ended too soon when a southbound car crossed the center line and slammed into another vehicle.

Adam Cornelison, an 18-year-old from Duncan Falls, was driving a 2010 Mercury Milan heading south when his car drifted into oncoming lanes and struck a northbound 2025 Honda CR-V driven by 53-year-old Bradley Stanley of Newark. Cornelison was declared dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seatbelt, officials said, and his sudden loss has rippled through his small community.

Two women in the Honda, Mackenzie Lawrence, 29, and Brooklyn Stanley, 22, both from Newark, were taken by ambulance to Genesis Hospital in Zanesville with serious injuries. Despite the efforts of emergency medical staff, both succumbed to their injuries later in the hospital. Their families now mourn alongside friends and neighbors.

First responders from several fire and EMS agencies worked at the scene, closing the highway and tending to the wreckage. Multiple local departments arrived quickly, reflecting the urgency of the situation as they tried to save lives and make the area safe for other drivers.

People who knew Cornelison remember him as a young man with plans and potential, just beginning his adult life when it was cut short. Lawrence and Stanley are being remembered by loved ones for their warmth, laughter, and the roles they played in their families’ lives.

Authorities continue to investigate what caused Cornelison’s vehicle to cross into the path of the other car. Troopers are piecing together details amid the shock that has settled over the surrounding communities.

In the coming days, family members and friends have gathered to support one another through grief, holding on to memories as they try to make sense of the tragedy. The loss of three lives has left a hole in the heart of the region, and people are offering support and prayers to the families affected.

The highway patrol and other agencies involved urged drivers to stay alert and to wear seatbelts, a reminder of how fragile life can be on rural roads like State Route 60.
