Just before midnight Friday, the quiet of Hicksville’s Old Country Road was shattered when a 2026 white BMW lost control, crossed into oncoming lanes, smashed into a tree and then plowed into a building. Two friends — 19-year-olds Lindsey Parke and Alexa Duryea of Levittown — were killed in the crash, Nassau County police said.
The collision happened around 11:30 p.m. near Sterling Place, authorities said. The driver, a 23-year-old man from the area, was treated at a local hospital for injuries that police described as non-life-threatening. Nassau County homicide detectives said their investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Parke and Duryea were passengers in the BMW when the vehicle veered out of control, police reported. First responders found both teens with severe trauma and pronounced them dead at the scene.
Friends and family have begun gathering to honor the young women’s lives. In a social media post shared by relatives, Parke’s brother wrote that “heaven has gained the strongest guardian angel,” a reflection of the deep pain felt by those closest to her.
Arrangements for Parke’s wake have been set at Thomas F. Dalton Funeral Home in Levittown, where visitors will be welcomed for viewing on Wednesday afternoon and evening. Details for Duryea’s services have not yet been released, with loved ones turning to local outlets for the chance to share memories and tributes.
Neighbors and classmates described both teens as vibrant and full of promise, the kind of young women with friends who expected decades of birthdays, graduations, and summer evenings ahead. Now their community is left to grieve what was lost in a single moment on a dark winter road.
Local police continue to piece together what led to the crash. Traffic investigators have asked anyone with information or video to come forward as part of their ongoing inquiry.
