PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY: Danville Woman Dies After High‑Speed Crash on Martinsville Highway

PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. — A Danville woman, Brandie Lee Fisk, 33, lost her life after a late‑night one‑car crash on Martinsville Highway on Tuesday, law enforcement confirmed. The Virginia State Police said the wreck happened just after 9:30 p.m. in a rural stretch of the county, in a collision still under active investigation.

State police say Fisk was driving a 2006 Pontiac Vibe at what appeared to be a high rate of speed when the vehicle suddenly veered off the left side of the road. The Vibe struck an embankment, rolled over and ejected Fisk from the car.

First responders found the scene around one‑tenth of a mile east of Pineview Road on Martinsville Highway, a quiet two‑lane road frequently used by commuters between Danville and neighboring communities. Fisk was immediately airlifted to Sovah Health in Danville after the crash.

Despite efforts by medical staff, Fisk died from her injuries at the hospital. Authorities noted she was not wearing a seatbelt at the time, a detail that often plays a tragic role in the severity of injuries in rollover crashes.

Troopers spent several hours at the site documenting evidence and reconstructing what happened. At this stage, investigators have not said whether alcohol, drugs, weather or road conditions contributed to the crash, and those questions remain part of the ongoing probe.

Local law enforcement and state troopers are urging anyone who may have seen the crash or has information to come forward to help fill in the gaps as the investigation continues.

Friends and neighbors described Fisk as a familiar face in the Danville area, and her sudden passing has left the community shaken. Tributes from those who knew her highlight a life cut painfully short, and a reminder of the fragile line between everyday travel and tragedy.
