Bryce Dillon, Tippecanoe: Tragic overcorrection sends sedan into a tree, cutting a young life short.

Bryce J. Dillon was just 32 years old with his whole life ahead of him. He was a familiar face from the town of Wabash, Indiana. On a quiet Tuesday afternoon, his journey came to a sudden and heartbreaking end.

The tragic incident happened in Tippecanoe Township around 3:54 p.m. Bryce was driving his 2006 Buick Lucerne down a familiar stretch of road. Nobody expected a routine afternoon drive to turn into a nightmare.

He was traveling south on State Road 13. For reasons still unknown, the wheels of his sedan drifted off the pavement. The passenger-side tires slipped off the east side of the roadway.

In a split second, Bryce tried to save the vehicle. He overcorrected the steering wheel to pull back onto the blacktop. That sudden move sent the sedan out of control.

The Buick careened wildly across the road. It crossed both lanes of traffic in a flash. The vehicle left the roadway entirely on the opposite side and slammed hard into a tree.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene just south of South Barbee Drive. Deputies and paramedics did everything they could when they arrived. The impact of the crash had already taken its toll.

The Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office pronounced Bryce dead right there at the scene. He passed away from the severe injuries he sustained in the wreck. A young guy from Wabash was gone too soon, leaving a community in deep mourning.
