VASSALBORO, Maine — A quiet stretch of Route 3 turned tragic Monday afternoon when Ryan Page, 48, lost his life in a violent head-on crash that has shaken this close-knit community.
Page, who lived in nearby China, Maine, was driving a Chevy Silverado when the pickup crossed the center line near Ritch Road and slammed into a Ford F-650 commercial truck. The impact was severe and unforgiving. First responders rushed in, but Page died at the scene from his injuries.

The Ford truck was driven by 64-year-old Douglas Boivin of Jay, Maine. Authorities said Boivin was not hurt in the collision. The force of the crash rippled beyond the two vehicles. A third driver swerved to avoid the pickup and was involved in a secondary crash, suffering only minor injuries.
Maine State Police say the investigation is still active. Troopers are working to understand why the Silverado crossed the center line. Specialized units, including the Traffic Safety Unit and the Commercial Motor Vehicle Unit, are assisting, along with Vassalboro Fire and Rescue, Augusta Fire and Rescue, and Delta Ambulance.
For those who knew Ryan Page, the loss feels heavy and sudden. Friends and family describe a man deeply connected to the people around him, someone whose presence filled rooms and whose absence now leaves a quiet ache.
In Vassalboro and beyond, news of the crash spread quickly. Messages of sympathy poured in as neighbors paused to reflect on how fast an ordinary drive can turn into a life-altering moment.
As investigators continue their work, the focus in the community remains on Page’s loved ones. They are now facing the painful task of grieving a life cut short, while holding tight to memories that will outlast the tragedy.
