BARSTOW Stabbing Leaves Man Hurt, Son in Custody on Attempted Murder Charges

Barstow was rocked in the early hours of Wednesday when a 63‑year‑old man called 911, bleeding and afraid for his life. Police say his son, 43‑year‑old Jimmy Vincent, attacked him inside their home on the 1000 block of Windy Pass just after midnight.

Dispatchers got the call at about 12:12 a.m. on January 28, 2026, with a man’s voice trembling, “Please help me, he stabbed me.” When officers arrived, they found the father outside the house with cuts on his face, a deep gash on his neck, and a wounded index finger.

The victim told police that Vincent had grabbed a knife, threatened to kill him, and began punching and trying to stab him inside the house. Even after the father got outside, he was still hurt and scared, according to the police statement.

Officers quickly set up a perimeter around the home, worried Vincent was still inside with a knife. After some time, he walked out calmly and was taken into custody without any more violence. Medics treated the father right there on the street before he was taken to a local hospital for further care.

At the scene, investigators found a bloody kitchen knife believed to be the weapon used in the attack. Vincent was booked into the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department High Desert Detention Center in Adelanto. He now faces serious charges, including attempted murder and making criminal threats under California law.

Neighbors who heard about the incident said it shook their sense of quiet in the usually calm Barstow neighborhood. Many said they hope the father recovers fully and that authorities get to the bottom of what led to such an attack between family members.

Police are urging anyone with information about the case to reach out to Officer Rafael Chavez at the Barstow Police Department or to submit anonymous tips through the WE‑TIP hotline.
