Rochester, Pennsylvania felt a sharp wave of grief after a young boy was killed in a bicycle crash that shook a quiet neighborhood. It happened in Beaver County on a Friday afternoon that started like any other.
Police said the child was riding his bicycle around 4:50 p.m. along the 300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue near Lacock Street when a vehicle struck him. The driver did not stop after the impact and left the scene immediately.



Emergency responders rushed to the location and found the boy seriously injured. He was quickly transported to a nearby hospital, but doctors were unable to save him. He was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
School officials later confirmed that the victim was a third-grade student at a local elementary school in the Rochester School District. The news spread quickly through the community, leaving classmates and teachers in shock.
Investigators worked through the evening to identify the vehicle involved in the crash. Authorities eventually tracked it down, leading them to a suspect.
Police arrested 53-year-old Thomas Earl Cole after linking him to the vehicle believed to have struck the child. He was taken into custody the following day.
Cole is being held without bail at the Beaver County Jail. He faces multiple felony charges, including homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence, DUI, and leaving the scene of a fatal accident.
In the aftermath, the boy’s family launched a fundraiser to help cover funeral costs and support their immediate needs. The effort quickly drew support, gathering tens of thousands of dollars within days as the community rallied around them.
