Ebenezer Road Motorcycle Crash Kills Roswell Man in Cobb County

A quiet Sunday evening on Ebenezer Road in Cobb County turned tragic when 31-year-old Nicholas Karantonis of Roswell died in a motorcycle crash. Just after 6:20 p.m. on March 1, Karantonis was riding his 2009 Harley-Davidson southbound near the intersection with Sandy Plains Road when he suddenly crossed into the northbound lane. His motorcycle slid out of control and slammed into a northbound 2010 Honda Accord.

First responders rushed to the scene at 3055 Ebenezer Road, in front of Addison Elementary School, but Karantonis was pronounced dead at the crash site by the Cobb County Medical Examiner’s Office. The driver of the Honda, 82-year-old Thomas Coe of Marietta, and two passengers — his wife Cynthia, 81, and son Scott, 49 — suffered only minor injuries and were taken to WellStar Kennestone Hospital in Marietta.

Witnesses described the shock of seeing emergency crews flood the road where families had just passed by on their way home. Traffic backed up for hours as investigators combed through the scene, looking at tire marks, vehicle positions and other clues. No charges or citations have been announced as authorities continue to piece together how Karantonis’ motorcycle came to veer across the center line.

Karantonis was remembered by friends and neighbors as a steady presence in his Roswell community, known for his love of riding and weekend trips on back roads. They spoke quietly about how sudden the news felt, and about the hole his absence leaves in weekend plans and everyday conversations.

Cobb County police urged anyone with information about the crash to contact investigators, emphasizing that early findings remain preliminary and the full picture of what happened has yet to emerge. Residents in the area expressed concern over traffic safety near busy intersections like Sandy Plains Road, even outside of school zones.

In the aftermath, local riders reflected on the risks of the road and the fragile balance between speed and safety. Karantonis’ passing has become a somber reminder of how quickly an evening ride can turn into a community’s heartbreak. The investigation is ongoing.
