A quiet Friday evening drive turned into an absolute nightmare for a young Indiana family. Jordan Walters and his wife, Sierra Walters, both just 33 years old, were heading down the road with their two little kids. The family was traveling eastbound on State Road 350 in their GMC Terrain. It was around 6 p.m., that typical time when folks are heading home to start the weekend. Jordan was behind the wheel, navigating the familiar two-lane corridor that connects communities through southeastern Indiana. Everything seemed completely normal until an oncoming vehicle suddenly changed their lives forever.
Out of nowhere, a massive Ford F-150 pickup truck heading westbound crossed right over the center line. It slammed directly into the Walters’ SUV in a violent, head-on collision. The force of the impact was completely devastating. While the heavy pickup truck spun out and stopped dead in the middle of the roadway, the Walters’ smaller GMC Terrain was knocked completely off the south side of the highway, tumbling down a steep embankment.
First responders rushed to the scene along the rural corridor near the Ohio border. The destruction was heartbreaking. The Dearborn County Coroner’s Office arrived shortly after, but there was nothing they could do for the young parents. Both Jordan and Sierra had suffered fatal injuries from the brutal impact.
