Kansas City woke up in shock after a deadly overnight shooting claimed the life of Keely Marie Baker, a mother of four described by loved ones as deeply devoted to her children and family.
Police said the incident happened just after 12:45 a.m. on Thursday in the 400 block of Wallace Avenue near Wilson Road. Officers were called to the area after reports of gunfire in the neighborhood.

When officers arrived, they were directed to the backyard of a nearby home. There, they found Baker suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency responders immediately began life-saving efforts at the scene.
Despite those efforts, Keely Marie Baker was pronounced dead where she was found. Her death has left family members and neighbors struggling to process the sudden loss.
Investigators believe multiple people were involved in an argument shortly before shots were fired. What exactly triggered the confrontation remains unclear at this time.
During the early stages of the investigation, police reported that a man later arrived at a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound. Authorities said he is expected to survive.
No arrests have been made so far. Detectives are still working through witness accounts and evidence to piece together what led to the deadly exchange of gunfire.
As the investigation continues, Baker’s family is left grieving a loss they say has created a painful and lasting void in their lives.
