Hernando County Tony Deuser Charged After Francis Biegaj Shot Dead in Driveway Dispute

The quiet stretch of a Hernando County neighborhood was shaken Tuesday afternoon when a dispute turned deadly, leaving 52-year-old Francis Biegaj dead in his own driveway. What began as a complaint over loud music quickly spiraled into gunfire, ending a life and sending shockwaves through the community.

Deputies were called to the scene around 4:31 p.m. after a family member dialed 911, reporting that Biegaj was bleeding from his arm. The situation was unclear at the time, but it was evident something had gone badly wrong. Emergency crews arrived fast and worked to stabilize him, but despite those efforts, Biegaj did not survive.

Investigators soon found troubling signs. Shell casings were scattered across the driveway, and Biegaj had suffered a gunshot wound to his left shoulder. Witnesses told deputies they heard several shots ring out and then saw a man walking away from the home, still holding a firearm. That account helped deputies quickly zero in on a suspect.

Authorities identified 47-year-old Tony Deuser, who lived nearby on Gillian Circle. Deputies moved in and set up a perimeter around his residence. After repeated commands, Deuser stepped outside and surrendered without any resistance, bringing a tense situation to a controlled end.

During questioning, Deuser admitted to the shooting. He told investigators he had grown angry over loud music coming from Biegaj’s home. According to his statement, when he asked for the volume to be lowered, Biegaj refused and told him to leave. That exchange, Deuser said, pushed him to fire two shots before returning home.

Deuser now faces a charge of second-degree murder. He is being held without bond at the county detention center as the case moves forward. Meanwhile, investigators continue to piece together every detail of what led to the fatal confrontation.

For neighbors, the tragedy feels both sudden and deeply unsettling. A simple disagreement, something many people experience, escalated into irreversible violence. The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with additional information to come forward as they continue to examine the full scope of the incident.
