St. Francisville: Delvin Whitaker Jr. Found Dead After Suspected Hit-and-Run in Solitude

St. Francisville is in shock after the death of 25-year-old Delvin Whitaker Jr., whose life ended under tragic and suspicious road conditions in the Solitude area. His name is now at the center of a painful investigation that has shaken the quiet community.

Whitaker had first been reported missing by his family, who grew worried when he could not be reached. That concern quickly turned into urgency as deputies with the West Feliciana Sheriff’s Office began searching for him across the area.

The search came to a heartbreaking end on the morning of April 12. Around 7:30 a.m., a passerby noticed something unusual along Solitude Road and alerted authorities immediately.
When deputies arrived, they found Whitaker’s body on the shoulder of the roadway. He was confirmed dead at the scene, leaving responders with more questions than answers in those early moments.

Investigators later noted that his injuries appeared consistent with being struck by a vehicle. That raised immediate concern that the case could involve a hit-and-run incident.

Authorities secured the area and began carefully piecing together what may have happened in the moments leading up to the tragedy. Every detail from the road to possible witness accounts is now part of the investigation.

The sheriff’s office has confirmed that the case remains active. Officials are working to identify any vehicle that may have been involved and to locate the driver responsible for what happened.

As the investigation continues, Whitaker’s family and friends are left with deep grief and a heavy silence. A young life is gone, and a community is now waiting for answers that still have not come.
