Greece, N.Y. — The heartbreak deepened this week after police confirmed that 25-year-old Riesen Kimmerly of Hamlin has died from injuries she suffered in a violent crash on West Ridge Road earlier this month. Her death marks the third life lost in a single moment that has shaken families and stunned the entire community.
The crash happened around 1 p.m. on January 17 at the intersection of West Ridge Road and Elmgrove Road. Greece Police say a vehicle driven by Craig Cavallaro, 42, of Parma, was heading westbound when it slammed into Kimmerly’s car, which was stopped at a red light. Cavallaro was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kimmerly was rushed to Strong Memorial Hospital with severe injuries. Her passenger, Tyler Underwood, 28, also of Hamlin, was taken to the same hospital in critical condition. Days later, police confirmed that Underwood had died from his injuries, turning the crash into an already unbearable tragedy.
Now, with Kimmerly’s passing, three lives have been lost. Three families are grieving. Three futures were erased in seconds on an ordinary afternoon drive. What began as a traffic stop at a red light ended in devastation that no one saw coming.
Those who knew Riesen Kimmerly describe her as warm, kind, and full of life. At just 25, she carried big hopes and quiet dreams. She was a daughter, a friend, and someone who mattered deeply to the people around her. Her absence leaves a silence that words cannot fill.
The loss of Kimmerly, Underwood, and Cavallaro has rippled through Greece and nearby towns. Friends lean on friends. Families lean on faith. The questions linger, and the pain remains raw as the investigation continues and loved ones search for meaning in the aftermath.
Community members have shared messages of love and remembrance, urging drivers to slow down and hold one another closer. In moments like this, grief becomes collective, and compassion becomes a lifeline.
Riesen Kimmerly will be remembered not for the way she died, but for the life she lived and the love she gave. Her story now joins the others lost on West Ridge Road, a reminder of how fragile life can be and how deeply one life can touch so many.
